$1,750,000 Settlement for Security Officer Who Sustained Spine & Knee Injuries Requiring Surgery

Plaintiff:

Plaintiff was a 41 year old security officer at Barnard College at the time of the accident.

Liability:

At the time of the accident, Plaintiff was driving home from work on Rockaway Beach Boulevard when his vehicle was struck on the front driver’s side by a marked NYPD vehicle that entered an intersection without stopping and while traveling the wrong way down a one way street. The NYPD vehicle was not responding to an emergency and was not utilizing its lights or sirens.

Damages:

Plaintiff suffered injuries to his neck and a worsening of pre-existing injuries to his back and right knee. As a result, Plaintiff underwent arthroscopic surgery to his right knee and a surgery to his cervical spine.

Settlement:

The matter was settled prior to jury selection by partners Jeffrey A. Block and S. Joseph Donahue.
