We hope you had a wonderful Labor Day filled with friends, family and food. We also hope you took a moment to think about the real meaning of Labor Day, celebrating the American labor movement and the contributions workers have made to the greatness of our country.

It’s easy to fall back into old habits, but it is important to think about workers throughout the year. How can you keep the spirit of Labor Day going as the calendar moves into October and beyond?

Here are some simple things you can do:

  • Be aware of your rights as a worker, including your right to a safe workplace, as well as your right to fair wages based on New York and federal employment laws.
  • Be respectful of your coworkers and report actions that damage workplace morale or place workers at risk, including sexual harassment, defective equipment and workplace negligence.
  • Be supportive of workers who pursue their rights

At Block O’Toole & Murphy, we believe that the wellbeing and safety of workers should always be the highest priority. We represent injured workers in New York City, pursuing the full compensation they need to cover the expenses of an injury, including medical costs and lost earnings.

When negligent employers fail to place the safety of workers ahead of profits, we make sure workers get a fair shake.
