The New York City attorneys at Block O’Toole & Murphy obtained a $1,750,000 settlement for a client who was injured in a Long Island motor vehicle accident. Our client, who was 24-years-old at the time of the accident on October 27, 2012, was a clerk for the Township of Brookhaven in Suffolk County.
She was driving her car eastbound on Portions Road and was stopped at a red light at Avenue B. She was rear-ended by the defendant, pushing her car into the rear of the vehicle in front of her, also stopped at the red light.
Her injuries included:
- Herniation at C5-C6, requiring a fusion surgery
- Lumbar herniation at L5-S1, requiring a lumbar laminectomy and fusion surgery
Her claim included compensation for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life. She did not seek lost wages in her claim.
The case, which was heard in Suffolk County Supreme Court, was settled through negation before trial began. The Block O’Toole & Murphy attorneys handling the case were Stephen Murphy and Michael Hurwitz.
