This week, another fatal workplace accident took place here New York City. It happened at a Staten Island country club and we have the details here.
A garbage container rolled off of a truck and fatally crushed a helpless 40-year-old worker at a Staten Island country club, according to authorities. The victim, an employee of a private carding company, was working at the site, the Richmond County Country Club in Todt Hill, when the dumpster unexpectedly rolled off of the truck. It smashed into him and knocked him to the ground. The accident took place late at night and details are still emerging about whether illumination was one of the contributing factors in the accident. There will be serious questions about whether this work should have been taking place in the dark.
The victim was struck without warning and suffered severe trauma to his head and his body. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and transported him to Staten Island University North Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim, whose name has not been released out of respect for his family, was an employee of a company called the Flag Container Service Company.
Various investigative agencies will be seeking answers as to how and why this tragedy occurred. For now, the appropriate focus remains on the victim, his family and those that loved him. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
