A construction worker fell to his death while working on an exterior renovation project in SoHo, tragically capping off what was reportedly his first day of work. According to NBC New York, the worker was identified as 28-year-old Adrien Zamora, who was from Ditmas Park in Brooklyn. Reportedly, Zamora was working on scaffolding three stories up when he fell to his death. The accident occurred at a site where a low-rise luxury building is being renovated at 450 Broome St., near Mercer.
It has been reported that the worker was preparing to head home after his first day of work when he reached over the railing to turn over a plank and fell. The Office of Emergency Management has said that Zamora landed on a sidewalk construction shed, and that he was not wearing a harness at the time. EMS workers did CPR and he was taken to Bellevue Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Zamora leaves behind a wife and two children.

Zamora s accident and untimely death comes just four months after one of the site s contractors was cited for “failure to safeguard all person and property after a wrench fell eight stories onto a pedestrian. After the most recent accident, the NYC Department of Buildings issued a stop work order for the site.
