A teenager from New York has been charged with multiple violations after his involvement in an accident that injured a father and his 9-month-old daughter. According to WKTV, 17-year-old Dustin A. Becraft ran a stop sign in Vienna and crashed into the driver’s side of a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Jason Spellicy. It is alleged that immediately after the accident, Becraft spun the tires in his pickup truck and fled the scene. Spellicy and his infant daughter Stella were taken to Rome Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
Becraft was eventually found and charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury motor vehicle accident, running a stop sign, failure to yield right of way at a stop sign, operating out of class, and multiple other vehicle and traffic violations. While leaving the scene of the accident, Becraft allegedly reversed, spun his tires in the middle of the road, and caused damage to a nearby property. Becraft was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup and Spellicy was driving a 2006 Nissan. Everyone involved in the accident was from Oneida County. Becraft’s passenger and Spellicy’s other two passengers were uninjured.
