In the June 27th to July 4th edition of the magazine, the section featured more Block O’Toole & Murphy verdicts and settlements than any other firm in the state. In fact, the firm’s number of featured verdicts and settlements exceeded the next most-appearing firm’s number of results three times over.
New York Magazine separated its top 2010 verdicts and settlements by category, and featured Block O’Toole & Murphy in the following three sections: construction accidents; motor vehicle accidents; and motor vehicle accidents – rear end collisions. One featured Block O’Toole & Murphy result in the construction accident category, which contained nine results from the firm, was a $4,900,000 settlement, which was obtained on behalf of a worker who sustained spinal fractures in a ladder fall. Some of the other results listed for the firm in this section included:
- $4 million for a worker injured due to a dangerous roof condition;
- $2.25 million for the survivors of a worker killed in a hoist shaft accident;
- $2.225 million for a carpenter who sustained spinal injuries after being struck by a falling door;
- $2.2 million for a laborer who was injured upon falling into an uncovered hole;
- $2.15 million for a carpenter who sustained brain and neck injuries after being hit by falling wood.
The car accident sections featured five of the firm’s 2010 results, which averaged over $1 million per case.
