Block O’Toole & Murphy Asked to Represent Grandmother Struck at Notoriously Dangerous Queens Intersection

Friday, June 10th, 2011

The New York personal injury and auto accident lawyers at Block O’Toole and Murphy have been asked to handle a Queens pedestrian accident case that has received a fair amount of media coverage. A woman was hit by a van as the result of a motor vehicle collision. The accident occurred at an intersection that has reportedly been considered dangerous by residents for some time.

At 103rd Avenue and 93rd street in Ozone Park, a van was broadsided by another automobile, sending the van careening into the sidewalk and striking the woman, according to reports. The incident left her with what have been reported as life-threatening injuries. The stop sign that may have prevented the accident was reportedly obstructed from view by an adjacent tree, and it appears that cars routinely run through the intersection without seeing the sign. Residents of the neighborhood have reportedly complained about the dangers of the intersection repeatedly; the woman on whose lawn the van ended up even had metal poles installed on it at the insistence of her insurance company, apparently as a preventative measure against an accident such as this one.

The City of New York may be partially responsible for the accident, due to their failure to address the issue of the stop sign. The New York auto accident attorneys at Block O’Toole & Murphy are also investigating all other potential contributing causes to the crash, pursuing full compensation for the women who was struck by the van. Any information regarding the accident can be reported to Block O’Toole & Murphy’s New York personal injury lawyers at 212-736-5300.
